ANTI-CANCER DIET: FIGS, FLAXSEED OIL AND GREEN BEANS

Research has indicated figs can shrink tumours involved in various cancers. Research on humans suggests figs are capable of shrinking tumours by an average of 39 per cent and can induce remissions in 55 per cent of cancer sufferers . The main active ingredient found in figs and fig extracts is benzaldehyde.

Figs may counteract and treat many of the side effects associated with chemotherapy and radiation treatment. One nasty side effect of cancer therapy is lassitude (lack of energy) and damage to the mucosal lining of the mouth, throat and digestive tract. Figs contain demulcents, substances that soothe irritated mucous membranes in the mouth, throat and respiratory system. Flaxseed/Linseed Oil

Green Beans

Green beans are excellent for the heart, providing fibre, protein and complex carbohydrates. They are very rich in high powered anti-cancer agents called phytochemicals and protease inhibitors. Beans stimulate colon bacteria to give off volatile short chain fatty acids, which decrease the ‘bad’ cholesterol, lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of developing colon cancer.

Green beans are a rich source of vitamin A. Vitamin A is an antioxidant that protects against free radical damage, protects the body against infections and promotes healthy skin and clear eyesight. Fresh green beans also supply vitamin E, vitamin Ñ, Â vitamins, folic acid, iron, magnesium, calcium and manganese. Lightly steam beans or eat them raw, add to a salad to receive the full nutritional benefits from this magical green medicine.
